Here's one more "president" who gets the chance to claim "I am not a crook."

A man wearing a George W. Bush mask was arrested after police chased him down on foot in connection with a stolen motorcycle.

Murrieta police Officer Rob Firmes said he was arriving at the scene of a reported stolen motorcycle when a man in a Bush mask took off on foot. Firmes followed him.

Police later arrested the man and discovered two Halloween masks inside his residence -- one of the current chief executive, the other of former President Bill Clinton.

"It's the first time I've ever had to chase a president," Firmes said with a grin Wednesday as he recounted the Tuesday afternoon incident from Murrieta Police Headquarters.

Police responded to Sierra Oak Drive about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and located a motorcycle without license plates. Officers ran the vehicle identification number, which indicated the Honda motorcycle had been stolen.

As authorities worked the scene, a man wearing a Bush mask under a motorcycle helmet walked up, got on the Honda and attempted to drive off.

He didn't get far, and he ran when Firmes arrived to back up the first unit on the scene. Police cordoned off the neighborhood and found the man in the attic of a residence in the 23600 block of Sierra Oak.

Police arrested two brothers living at the residence and found two motorcycles, both also reported stolen, in the garage. Detectives later went to a residence in Quail Valley, where two additional motorcycles believed stolen were seized.

Law officers placed the value of the five recovered motorcycles at $15,000.

The suspects were booked on suspicion of possession of stolen property, resisting arrest and possession of a vehicle with an altered identification number.

No charges for the mask.
