VIRGINIA L. KNOX, 83, died Wednesday at Redlands Community Hospital. A native of Hillsboro, N. M., she lived in Calimesa 26 years.

She was a salesperson for Broadway Department Store for 13 years.

Mrs. Knox is survived by her husband, Earl; a son, Stan of Calimesa; a daughter, Kathy Baguley of Ontario; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Lillian Sanders of Tennessee and Beatrice Ray of Texas.

Graveside services will be at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday at Desert Lawn Cemetery in Calimesa. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the service time at Hughes Funeral Chapel in Yucaipa.

MILDRED H. STINES, 84, died Wednesday at Kaiser Permanente Riverside Medical Center. Mrs. Stines, a native of Yuma, Colo., lived in Homeland 16 years. Previously, she lived in Corona. She was a first-grade teacher for 45 years, 18 of them with the Corona-Norco Unified School District.

Mrs. Stines earned her bachelor's degree at Kansas State University and her master's degree at UC Riverside.

She was a member of the Methodist church.

Mrs. Stines was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star and belonged to Crown Chapter in Corona.

She is survived by her husband, Bill.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Evans-Brown Mortuary in Sun City. Friends may call at the mortuary from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Riverside National Cemetery.

SILVIA ELMA SCHROEDER, 74, died Thursday at Hemet Valley Medical Center. A native of National City, Mrs. Schroeder lived in Hemet 27 years. Previously, she lived in Winchester 10 years.

She was a teacher with the Hemet Unified School District until her retirement in 1992. She taught at Winchester Elementary and Little Lake Elementary schools.

She was a member of the American Association of University Women and the League of Women Voters. After retirement, she volunteered with the school district.

Mrs. Schroeder is survived by her husband of 39 years, Jeffery; a son, Charles of Arrowbear; a daughter, Jennifer Bittner of Escondido; two brothers, Erle Isbell of National City and Robert Isbell of Vista; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at McWane Family Funeral Home in Hemet. Inurnment will be private.

KATANNYA KAHRET, 81, died Wednesday at Hemet Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. Kahret, who was born in Jacksonville, Ill., lived in Hemet 11 years. She was store manager at Irvine Ranch Farmers Market in Irvine seven years.

Mrs. Kahret is survived by a son, Allan Morphett of Idyllwild; one grandchild; and a brother, Robert Allan of Kentucky.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Church of the Nazarene in Hemet. Inurnment in Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie,, Ill., will be private.

VIVIAN OPAL SEIP, 79, died Tuesday at Kaiser Permanente Riverside Medical Center.

A native of Mineral Wells, Texas, Mrs. Seip lived in Nuevo 65 years. She was a beautician with House of Windsor in Hemet 35 years.

Mrs. Seip is survived by two sons, Earl Parker Jr. of San Jacinto, and Albert of Nuevo; a daughter, Lisa Verbanbic of Idyllwild; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Floyd Wilmuth of Delaware and John Wilmuth of Hemet; and a sister, Hellen Barker of Nuevo.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Riverside National Cemetery. Miller-Jones Mortuary in Hemet is handling arrangements.

Memorial contributions: a charity of the donor's choice.

BILLY K. HOOD, 69, died Monday of lung disease at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, Wash.

Mr. Hood, who was born in Riverside, lived in San Jacinto from 1932 until 1950. More recently he lived in Riverside and Palm Springs before he moved in 1990 to Washington, where he managed a motel.

He was superintendent at the Thunderbird Country Club in Palm Springs from 1966 until 1983. He also worked for a time as greenskeeper at Gilman Hot Springs Resort.

Mr. Hood served in the U. S. Army from 1953 until 1955.

He was a 1950 graduate of San Jacinto High School.

He is survived by two daughters, Cheri Randles of Idaho and Charlotte Mayo of Arizona; five grandchildren; two brothers, Darrell of Arkansas and Wayne of Shingle Springs; and three sisters, Audrey Dale of Kansas, Lovina Lewis of Arizona and Edna Riffle of Walnut Creek.

Memorial services were private. Interment was in Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee, Wash. Telford's Chapel of the Valley in East Wenatchee handled arrangements.

GERALD ALVIN GUTTERUD, 73, died Monday at Hemet Valley Medical Center.

Born in Oberon, N. D., Mr. Gutterud lived in Hemet eight years. Previously he lived in Riverside 40 years. He worked in several positions at Rohr Aircraft Corp. in Riverside for 39 years.

He served in the U. S. Navy from 1945 until 1947.

Mr. Gutterud was a member of the Sons of Norway in Riverside for 10 years.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia; four sons, Ronald, Randy and Rodney, all of Riverside, and Richard of San Diego; two daughters, MaryPat Turner of Illinois and Marla Booth of Riverside; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be private. Interment will be in Riverside National Cemetery. Miller-Jones Mortuary in Hemet is handling arrangements.

JEANETTE IRENE BALLESTEROS, 72, died Dec. 1 at Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Highway 79.

Mrs. Ballesteros, who was born in Los Angeles, lived in Hemet eight years. Previously she lived in Crestline two years. She was a registered nurse and worked at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in San Bernardino for 12 years.

She is survived by two sons, David Stephens of Illinois and James Stephens of Cecilville; three daughters, Patricia Graham of Arizona, Susan Stephens-Hepp of Orleans and Barbara D'Augelli of Chico; 18 grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a brother, Frank Faxon of Cedarpines Park.

Graveside services were Thursday at San Jacinto Valley Cemetery. McWane Family Funeral Home in Hemet handled arrangements.

KENNETH DALE HERGERT, 75, died Tuesday at Hemet Valley Medical Center. Born in Pond Creek, Okla., Mr. Hergert lived in Hemet 16 years. He was an inspector for Chrysler Corp. in Maywood and San Leandro for 31 years. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union.

Mr. Hergert served in the merchant marine during World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Emma; a son, Steven of Paramount; a daughter, Leslie Knackert of Riverside; and a grandchild.

No services are planned. Inurnment will be private. Miller-Jones Mortuary in Hemet is handling arrangements.

MILES EDWARD CUSACK, 82, died Nov. 27 at Hemet Valley Healthcare Center. Born in Santa Barbara, Mr. Cusack lived in San Jacinto 18 years. He was a landscape architect for 15 years.

During World War II, Mr. Cusack served in the U. S. Army from 1941 until 1945.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred; and two stepsons, Mark Ravert of Idaho and Jim Warner of Louisiana.

Memorial services will be scheduled in Idaho. Inurnment will be private. Miller-Jones Mortuary in Hemet is handling arrangements.

RICHARD OLIVER KARNES, 78, died Tuesday at Loma Linda University Medical Center.

A native of South Bend, Ind., Mr. Karnes lived in Riverside eight years. Previously he lived in Perris and San Bernardino 35 years. He worked for Hojaca Plumbing Supplies in San Bernardino before he retired in 1985.

He is survived by his wife, Beth; a daughter, Dana of Perris; six sons, Richard of Los Angeles, Dennis and Dean, both of Riverside, Del and Devin, both of Perris, and Darin of San Bernardino; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at noon today at the family's home in Riverside. The Neptune Society in Riverside is handling arrangements.

HAROLD CALEB HARVEY, 77, died Wednesday of Lou Gehrig's disease at his home in Corona. Mr. Harvey was born in Corona, where he lived 57 years. He also lived in Lake Elsinore 20 years. He owned Corona Appliance and previously owned Western Auto in Lake Elsinore.

He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II.

Mr. Harvey is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; two daughters, Gina McGinnis of Hesperia and Julie Hatley of San Clemente; five grandchildren; three brothers, Bob of Washington, Clair of Oregon and Howard of Hemet; and a sister, Geraldine Harris of Oregon.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the family's home in Corona. His body was donated to Loma Linda University Medical Center for research.

FAY LOLA MOFFITT, 70, died of complications of lung cancer Dec. 6 at her home in Menifee.

A native of Bakersfield, Mrs. Moffitt lived in Menifee 11 years. She was an oral surgeon assistant in Anaheim for 20 years.

Mrs. Moffitt was past president of the Menifee Lakes Women's Golf Club.

She is survived by her husband, George; two daughters, Tina Jackson of Augua Dulce and Terri Revetti of Santa Clarita; three sons, Dan Stewart of Buena Park, Randy Stewart of Huntington Beach and Tom Stewart of Los Angeles; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday at Miller-Jones Mortuary in Sun City. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Miller-Jones Mortuary. Burial will be in Riverside National Cemetery.

RAYMOND PETER GANZ, 68, died Wednesday at Inland Valley Regional Medical Center in Wildomar.

A native of Ottawa, Ill., Mr. Ganz lived in Murrieta four years. He worked for 26 years at Multi Ad Services, the last 10 years serving as president.

Mr. Ganz served in the U.S. Army for two years. He was a member of AMBUCS, the Youth Farm, and Bear Creek Golf Club.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; a son, Steven of Murrieta; two daughters, Kris Hasten and Shelly Hines, both of Illinois; nine grandchildren; and three sisters, Diane Bergeson, Jackie Brewster and Lucille Sergenti, all of Illinois.

Memorial services will be from 2 until 4 p.m. Sunday at Bear Creek Golf Club in Murrieta. Funeral services will be in Washington, Ill. Valley Funeral Home in Murrieta is handling arrangements.

EARL SIMEON FITZPATRICK, 64, died Dec. 1 at Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta. Born in Providence, R.I., Mr. Fitzpatrick lived in Lake Elsinore 15 years. He was a painter and set decorator at MGM in Burbank for 10 years.

Mr. Fitzpatrick served in the U. S. Army from 1959 until 1986.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy; two sons, Michael of Temecula and Jimmy Santos of Costa Mesa; three daughters, Dawn Swihart of Sun City, Dana Ducommun of Idaho and Dene Patterson of Murrieta; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

WILLIAM MATTHEW HORRIGAN, 76, died Sunday at his home in Canyon Lake. Born in Oak Park, Ill., Mr. Horrigan lived in Canyon Lake 4 ½ years.

He was the owner and president of Booth and Simpson Insurance Co. in North Hollywood for 45 years.

He earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy at St. John's Seminary in Camarillo. He served in the U. S. Army in 1948 and 1949.

Mr. Horrigan was a past president of the Insurance Broker Society of Southern California and was on the board of directors of the Fairmont Insurance Co. and Western Security Bank.

He was a member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society. He was also member of the Canyon Lake Men's Golf Club, the Lakeside Golf Club and Rancho Las Palmas Country Club.

Mr. Horrigan is survived by his wife of 21 years, Barbara; three sons, John of Sylmar, Robert of Camarillo, and Kenneth Trisler of Clovis; six daughters, Jennifer Beale of Topanga, Maureen Ganzel of Northridge, Michele of Burbank, Pamela of Paradise, Brenda Lopez of Fullerton, and Kathleen Winfield of Reseda; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a brother, Robert of Santa Monica.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Canyon Lake Community Church in Canyon Lake. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be at noon in Riverside National Cemetery. Miller-Jones Mortuary in Sun City is handling arrangements.

MARY CONSTANCE LOVIN, 85, died Nov. 29 at Greenview Hospital in Bowling Green, Ky. Mrs. Lovin, a native of San Diego, lived in Sun City 23 years. She was a manager for Lancers Restaurant for 40 years.

Mrs. Lovin is survived by a son, Frank Postmus of Kentucky; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Angelo Ursino of Spring Valley; and three sisters, Anne Godfrey of San Diego, Mary Olsen of San Marcos, and Grace Stockham of Calimesa.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Miller-Jones Mortuary in Sun City. Burial will be in Riverside National Cemetery. Crafton Funeral Home handled arrangements in Kentucky.
