Smith to chair service district board

Anita B. Smith, the longest-serving member of the Rubidoux Community Services District, was elected president of the board of directors at this week's reorganization meeting.

The vote was 5-0.

Armando Muniz was elected vice president.

As president of the board, Smith will chair the water and sewer agency's twice-monthly meetings.

Smith was first elected to the board in 1978.

In addition to water and sewer service, the district provides fire protection, trash collection, street lights and weed abatement to residents of the unincorporated communities of Rubidoux and Belltown.
