Please allow me this opportunity to recognize those who contributed to the shining success of the general election in San Bernardino County.
First, I want to thank the voters for the overwhelming patience they displayed on Election Day and at early voting sites.
Voters were prepared after my office predicted that there would be lines because of record registration and the excitement surrounding this election.
It appears, thanks to our voters, that we will boast a record turnout.
And I want to send my heartfelt thanks to the poll workers -- our civic-minded citizens, high school students and county employees -- who gave of their time to make sure that every voter had an equal opportunity to cast a vote.
The day was long and the weather not so dry, but nonetheless, every polling place was ready for business at 7 a.m. -- sharp!
Throughout Election Day, voters remained positive while they waited for their turn to cast a ballot, and "I Voted" stickers were the fashion statement of the day.
Poll workers were excited to be part of the election and never missed a beat as they endured a 15-hour workday.
It goes without saying that San Bernardino County voters and poll workers are the reasons this historic election was a success.
I thank you all!
